Modern communication of old knowledge.

Got a very useful comment from Modulations over at flickr regarding framing/composing in square format. It's been running around in my head like a ferret in heat ever since. The gist is this: 3:2 framing (aka golden mean, rule of thirds) doesn't work well in square format. I was encouraged to explore pushing compositional elements to the edges, among other things.

So what did I do? I poured through my catalog [yet again] looking for images I could experiment with.

Here's an example of using negative space:

You get the idea. I'm gonna keep thinking about this. In the mean time, I had better get my ass in gear cuz we have house guests coming in a few hours and my wife is giving me looks...
